1.What verification does and does not mean

CampusRidez requires university email verification, and may require phone verification, before a student can post or book rides. This helps ensure you are coordinating with real members of a campus community rather than anonymous accounts.

  • Verification helps strengthen trust.
  • No verification system can eliminate all risk.
  • Users are responsible for exercising judgment.

Verification is not a criminal background check, a driving-record check, an insurance check, or an endorsement of any user. Always review a profile and trust your instincts before a ride.

2.Before you ride

Take a minute to review the details before you confirm a booking.

  • Read the driver's profile, verification status, and university affiliation.
  • Confirm the route, departure time, seat count, and vehicle description.
  • Ask questions in chat if anything is unclear.
  • Confirm the make, model, color, and license plate before getting in.
  • Verify the driver's name matches the profile.
  • Tell a friend or family member your route and expected arrival time.

3.Safe pickup-location recommendations

Where you meet matters. Choose visible, predictable places.

  • Meet in well-lit, public locations with foot traffic.
  • Prefer campus landmarks, library entrances, transit centers, and staffed buildings.
  • Avoid empty parking garages, alleys, and isolated lots, especially after dark.
  • Do not wait alone in an unfamiliar area. Wait inside until the driver arrives.
  • Choose a legal stopping point that will not block traffic.
  • You are never required to share your home address. A nearby public landmark is fine.

4.Reviewing ride and passenger information

Both roles should confirm details in the app rather than relying on memory.

  • Drivers: review each confirmed passenger, seat count, and the stops needed for the route.
  • Passengers: confirm your pickup and drop-off are correct before departure.
  • Keep coordination in in-app chat so a record exists if a dispute arises.
  • Use another user's location information only to complete the ride. Do not save, share, or reuse it.

5.Seat-belt expectations

Every occupant must wear a seat belt for the entire trip. Drivers must not accept more passengers than the number of functioning seat belts in the vehicle, and must not begin the trip until everyone is buckled. Riding in a cargo area or on a lap is never permitted.

6.Driver licensing and insurance responsibilities

Drivers are solely responsible for holding a valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, and all legally required insurance.

  • CampusRidez does not provide, arrange, or verify insurance coverage of any kind.
  • CampusRidez does not offer commercial auto liability coverage for rides.
  • Confirm with your own insurer that cost-shared carpooling is covered under your policy.
  • Keep your vehicle maintained, with working lights, brakes, tires, and seat belts.

7.Zero tolerance for harassment

Harassment, sexual harassment, threats, intimidation, stalking, hate speech, and discrimination are never permitted and can result in immediate permanent removal. You are never obligated to continue a ride or a conversation that makes you uncomfortable. Ask to be let out at the nearest safe, public location, then report what happened.

8.Prohibited conduct

The following are prohibited on CampusRidez and during any ride arranged through it:

  • Driving while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, or any other substance.
  • Consuming alcohol or illegal drugs in a vehicle.
  • Carrying weapons in violation of applicable law or campus policy.
  • Reckless, distracted, or aggressive driving, including phone use while driving.
  • Threats of violence or any physical altercation.
  • Unwanted physical contact or sexual advances.
  • Impersonation or use of another student's account.
  • Posting fraudulent rides or moving coordination off-platform to avoid accountability.

9.During the ride

  • Share your live trip status with a friend if your phone supports it.
  • Keep your phone charged, or bring a power bank on long trips.
  • Speak up early if the driving feels unsafe. Ask them to slow down.
  • If you feel unsafe, ask to be dropped at the nearest safe public place such as a gas station or store, or call 911.
  • Trust your instincts. Ending a ride early is always an acceptable choice.

10.Reporting and blocking

Reporting is confidential from the reported user's perspective and does not require confrontation.

  • Report a profile, ride, or conversation directly in the app.
  • Email safety@campusridez.com for urgent safety concerns.
  • Use the support form and choose the safety category for non-urgent reports.
  • Block a user at any time to stop further contact and hide your activity from them.
  • Include dates, times, and specifics so we can investigate effectively.

11.Emergency procedures

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 first. Contact CampusRidez afterward.

  • Emergency services: 911
  • UNT Police Department: 940-565-3000
  • Denton Police non-emergency: 940-349-8181
  • CampusRidez safety team: safety@campusridez.com

Save your campus police number in your phone before you travel. If you attend another university, use your own campus emergency and police numbers.

12.How CampusRidez responds to reports

When we receive a report, our process is:

  • Acknowledge. We confirm receipt and prioritize reports involving immediate safety risk.
  • Review. We examine relevant account records, ride details, and chat history.
  • Follow up. We may contact you for additional detail.
  • Act. Outcomes range from a warning to feature limits, suspension, or permanent removal.
  • Escalate. Where appropriate, we cooperate with campus authorities or law enforcement.

We may take interim action, such as suspending an account, while a review is underway. We cannot guarantee a specific outcome or timeline, and privacy obligations may limit what we can share about another user.

13.Important limits of this guidance

CampusRidez helps students coordinate rides but cannot eliminate transportation risks. Students should review profiles, communicate clearly, follow local laws, and use personal judgment before participating in a ride.

This page offers practical guidance, not a guarantee. CampusRidez does not employ drivers, does not operate vehicles, and does not supervise rides. Following these guidelines reduces some risks but cannot remove them.
